A Malaise Trap is used for collecting flying insects
particularly hymenoptera and diptera. The trap consists of a
tent like structure made of terylene netting, with one inner
wall with the highest point being at one end where the
collecting vessel is attached. The location of the trap is
critical as it should be across apparent flight paths. The
insects fly into the tent wall and are collected in a dry or
wet killing bottle. Huge numbers may be caught by this method.
We supply the trap with pegs, guys, ties and reinforcing
webbing on all edges and seams. Also included is the
collecting head with dry and wet system plus spare bottles. We
do not supply the poles as most of these traps are exported
where there are timber import restrictions. Local material is
therefore used. The traps can be black, white or black and
white. Please state colour requirements. Size 65 x 110cm
