LED08 White Compact LED Skinner Moth Trap

from £236.00

We sell our LEDs throughout the world and are leading the way in this type of design for recording and surveying moths.

A moth trap we would not suggest for everyday use in a UK garden due to low catches but is an ideal choice for overseas travel to Europe and beyond where the moth density is higher. Using 2x 2w LED units which have been extensively tested by Chris Williams, Dave Grundy and Jon & Adelene Clifton in the UK, Ireland, Spain and the US over the past two years. With results approaching a single 15w actinic in species and numbers.

Made from a special white polypropylene which will reflect the UV rather than absorbing it like other materials. UV spectacles recommended for this moth trap. Available from ALS. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions before purchase.

Trapping in the mountains of Bhutan with the ALS compact skinner and LED light. The trap is incredibly portable and collapses down to fit easily into my luggage. Loving the ability to be able to get a taste of the moths in such a diverse country - 300 or so species so far! Now just to identify them all... ;-) - Jonathan Newman, Cambs

I recently returned from a trip to the Minervois region (Aude) in France and took the LED lights and tracer 8Ah lithium battery pack you supplied along with me. Although weather was not ideal with very strong winds for much of the time I was there I managed to get in a couple of nights trapping and the lamps performed very well. I was staying in an area dominated by ‘garrigue’ vegetation interspersed with small vineyards and caught a nice selection of moths. - Jonathan Wallace, Newcastle upon Tyne

Using the new LED light last night [early June] I was happy with the results - over 50 species at two spots along the railway line here at North Elmham including Seraphim and Gold Spot. I'm sure an MV would have drawn in more species but with this set up I was able to get to places I would never have been able to lug a heavy generator and trap to - I think it's going to be really useful. - Dave Appleton, Norfolk
